My name is Samario Valasse-Paul and I am a 22 year old Junior Plumber/Mechanic. I chose to pursue plumbing because of its importance to our every day life. It is a well-respected trade world-wide, and I am honoured to be a part it. Our mission is supply the community with safe and clean water, while also being able to dispose of wastes from homes and offices.
I work with many tools that enable me to perform tasks such as installations or removal of applications, but first I had to learn how to handle these tools in a safe manner. Urban Construction Services (UCS) provided me with an NCCER program outlining the basic safety rules and regulations that I needed to know before stepping onto an active working site. This gave me an advantage moving forward into plumbing because I already knew what most tools were, what they did and how to safely handle them.

Throughout the course each module dove deep into the importance of
safety and the many rules and laws set in place at a global standard that all
workers in the industry must abide by. These rules and laws can help prevent
incidents or accidents and in worst cases someone’s life. I’m very big on safety
and would want to ensure that each one of my coworkers are operating in a
safe manner while on any type of job site.
I feel this course can help shape the future of how we look at introducing students and experienced workers into the construction industry in
order to become NCCER certified. The team at Urban Construction Services do
an amazing job at delivering a quality service and I would like to see it continue
as we embrace our future generations. I’m grateful for this opportunity and
look forward to the new experiences that await me.
